On 11/11/12 we will celebrate Veterans’ Day.
The Veterans Dinner will be on November 8th, 2012.
At 11 a.m., the 11th hour, our country will hold a minute of silence to pay our respects to those who have fought and died in war. This year, it will take approximately $11,000 to fund the Rabun County Veterans’ Appreciation Dinner so that every veteran that attends will be provided a meal.
Make a donation in honor of or in memory of a veteran.

Armistice Day (also known as Remembrance Day) is on 11 November and commemorates the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at Compiègne, France, for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front, which took effect at eleven o’clock in the morning—the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” of 1918.

The Armistice Day remembered those who lost their lives so that we might live in peace. Years later, the day of remembrance was called Veteran’s Day in order to honor every person who has fought in any war the United States has ever fought to preserve our freedom, protect our rights, and watch over us in times of peace.
